Adopt a pet and celebrate Star Wars Day at Miami-Dade County Animal Services’ unique event on Saturday

Hialeah, Florida – Miami-Dade County Animal Services is hosting an “intergalactic” pet adoption event titled “May the 4th: Adoption is the Way,” inviting all Star Wars fans and pet lovers to Amelia Earhart Park on May 4, 2024. From 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., attendees can celebrate Star Wars Day—a day dedicated to the beloved Star Wars franchise created by George Lucas—by adopting a new member of their family.

Dress in your favorite Star Wars attire and join the community for a day filled with fun and the spirit of giving. The event promises to be an exciting outing with live performances, food trucks, various vendors, and giveaways, creating a festive atmosphere for all ages.

In an effort to encourage adoptions and make the process as accessible as possible, Animal Services will waive the adoption fees for pets that are four months and older. Prospective pet owners will only need to cover a $30 tag fee. Each adopted pet are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped, ensuring they are ready to start a new life with their adoptive families.

Moreover, the event will feature the Wellness on Wheels (WOW) Mobile Unit, which will offer low-cost rabies vaccines for just $5 and free microchipping. The WOW unit operates on a walk-in basis, so no appointment is necessary.
