As Trump prepares for a fundraiser in Florida, Haley’s donors offer their support to Biden

Florida – Donald Trump has adopted a more proactive approach to fundraising compared to his 2016 campaign, and is preparing for a high-dollar fundraiser that is scheduled to take place next month in Florida as he aims to bridge the fundraising gap with the Democrats and Joe Biden, who are far ahead of him in terms of funds raised for their presidential campaign.

Trump Faces Challenges

And now, the former president is facing another challenge and might regret his statements made at the end of January on his Truth Social profile, where he indicated that those who contributed to Nikki Haley’s campaign are not welcome in his fundraising efforts, as it seems some of those donors have turned their support towards Joe Biden.

A Shift in Political Support Post-Haley’s Withdrawal

After Trump was confirmed as the GOP nominee, following a decisive win in the primaries, the political landscape began to shift. Haley, the former Governor of South Carolina, withdrew from the primary race after Super Tuesday, prompting a notable redirection of support among her financial backers. Donors who previously supported Nikki Haley during her Republican primary campaign are now offering their support to Democrat Joe Biden for the upcoming presidential election against Donald Trump.

Among the most significant moves, media mogul Jeffrey Katzenberg reached out to Harry Sloan, a major fundraiser for Haley, encouraging him to direct his support towards Biden’s reelection campaign. Sloan, who has a history of donating to both Republicans and Democrats, committed to aiding Biden’s campaign financially and by rallying other business-oriented Republicans who are reconsidering their political allegiance.

This movement isn’t isolated. Biden’s campaign finance chair, Rufus Gifford, revealed his participation in a WhatsApp group titled “Haley Supporters for Biden,” dedicated to converting Haley’s donor base in favor of the incumbent president.

Biden’s team reaches to Halley’s Donors

Reports from Politico and NBC News have further revealed that Biden’s campaign finance team reached out to Haley’s donors shortly after her exit from the race, indicating a strategic approach to capitalizing on the opportunity presented by her departure.

This donor realignment comes against the backdrop of internal strife within the GOP, marked by a clear division between staunch Trump loyalists and moderates who have openly rejected the former president’s leadership. Trump’s own statements have fueled this divide. In January, he declared that those supporting Haley would be “permanently barred from the MAGA camp,” a stance that starkly contrasts with Biden’s welcoming attitude towards Haley’s former supporters.

“Donald Trump made it clear he doesn’t want Nikki Haley’s supporters. I want to be clear: There is a place for them in my campaign,” Biden said. As the election approaches, the shift of Haley’s donors to Biden not only reflects the current political polarization but also underscores the potential for cross-party support in what promises to be a highly contested rematch between Biden and Trump.
