Cooper City, Florida – The Broward Sheriff’s Office announced they will be conducting a DUI checkpoint to ensure road safety over the Saint Patrick’s Day holiday weekend, aimed at protecting the community from the dangers of impaired driving, which tends to increase during festive periods.

According to the announcement, the operation is scheduled to take place in Cooper City, specifically at 10001 Sheridan St. It is set to start at 10 p.m. on Saturday, March 16, and will continue until 3 a.m., Sunday, March 17.

The “primary purpose of this operation is to promote traffic safety, apprehend impaired drivers who may pose a danger to the public, and cite traffic violators.” Saint Patrick’s Day is a time of joy and festivity. However, it’s also a period when the risks of road accidents increase due to impaired driving. The Broward Sheriff’s Office is stepping up to mitigate these risks and is putting measures in place to discourage driving under the influence.

In their message to the public, BSO stresses the importance of enjoying the Saint Patrick’s Day festivities in a manner that does not compromise one’s safety or that of others. They urge everyone to “enjoy their holiday festivities responsibly and have a safe Saint Patrick’s Day weekend.”
