Public assistance sought in locating missing 84-year-old woman

Pompano Beach, Florida – The Broward Sheriff’s Office Missing Persons Unit has issued a public appeal for assistance to locate an 84-year-old woman who went missing recently. The elderly woman, identified as Annie Ruth Sands, was last seen on Thursday, March 28, in the vicinity of the 800 block of Northwest 30th Avenue in Pompano Beach.

According to detectives handling her case, she disappeared at approximately 9 a.m. She is described by authorities as being roughly 5 feet 2 inches tall and weighing about 100 pounds. Ms. Sands has gray-black hair and brown eyes. At her time of disappearance, she had been wearing a black hoodie, blue jeans, black sandals, and a green fanny pack.

Information provided by family members reveals that Ms. Sands suffers from dementia. This information adds urgency to locating her safely due to the potential vulnerability linked to such a condition.
