Photo and article on the Woodlands in Atomic Ranch Magazine
This home back in its glory days before its mid century looks was changed

By: Sharon Aron Baron

In the fall of 2010, I submitted some photos of some of our homes here in the Woodlands along with a letter to the editors of Atomic Ranch Magazine.  The Spring 2011 issue is out and we are featured on page eight.  This magazine is read by mid-century architecture buffs all over the United States.  I hope it will attract some much-deserved appreciation to our beautiful homes here in the Woodlands!   In case you aren’t familiar with Atomic Ranch Magazine,  here is some information:

Atomic Ranch celebrates mid-century houses—from 1940s ranch tracts to 1960s architect-designed modernist homes. With an emphasis on affordable solutions and homeowner renovations, our quarterly magazine shows you how to make your house cool, both inside and out.

Mid-century modern homes are extremely desirable, and homes in the Woodlands are no exception.  Many of our homes, which were built in the 1960’s, have such a unique style of modern architecture  that are unlike many of the newer homes in Broward County.

Here are some other beautiful homes here in the Woodlands.   If I don’t have yours here, please let me know so I can add it!

Are you crazy about Danish Modern?  Own an Eames or a Saarinen Womb Chair?  Do you have a room decorated in mid-century modern style?   If so, send me an email and I may feature your home on our website. admin@thewoodlandstamarac.com

For those residents who have never heard of this magazine or it’s significance please feel honored that your Woodlands was featured here.
This magazine celebrates the great iconic designs of Mid -Century Architecture and is an example of what this community should strive for. A true Architectual Committee should review this article and realize the missed opportunity to make these homes historical therfore greatly increasing the value.
Based on my short time living here I am sure this flies over the heads of committee members who are more interested in the next ‘ Bridge Tournament”. Sad>+

    Hi, Adam,
Thanks so much for bringing to my attention the Atomic Ranch style and magazine. I have always admired the style never knew the term or the period for which it represented. I happen to own 5 Saarinen tulip arm chairs, the matching table and siden table and I also have an Eameses chair. I love the sleek lines and contempory look. Growing u I had noticed on the Brady Bunch t.v. show that they had the Saarinen kitchen set in their kitchen on the show. When the opprtunity came along to actually buy the set, I jumped at it and until only recently found out how much it is worth as well as the huge demand for it . I notice more and more t.v commercials, magazine afs, movies, and furniture stores are showing this style…
