Hit-and-run involving Florida Highway Patrol trooper vehicle prompts major search

Broward County, Florida – A hit-and-run accident occurred this morning involving a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) trooper vehicle, leading to an intensive search for the driver who fled the scene.

The incident took place around 7 a.m. on the northbound lanes of Interstate 75, near Indian Trace in Weston. Reports of the accident prompted an immediate response from both the FHP and Broward County Sheriff’s Fire Rescue teams.

According to reports, authorities surrounded the area where the accident occurred. Reportedly, the driver of a black vehicle crashed into a Florida Highway Police trooper vehicle and immediately fled the scene on foot following the crash.

The escape of the driver has led to an extensive search operation by law enforcement. Police helicopters have also been deployed in an effort to locate the individual responsible. This incident has caused significant traffic disruption, with only one lane remaining open on I-75 North following the crash.
