Isle of Venice Drive drainage work set to begin June 1 in Fort Lauderdale
Fort Lauderdale, Florida – A stormwater improvement project is set to bring temporary traffic changes to Isle of Venice Drive as Fort Lauderdale prepares to upgrade part of the drainage system in the Hendricks and Venice Isles neighborhood.
The City of Fort Lauderdale, working with David Mancini & Sons, Inc., will begin construction at 148 Isle of Venice Drive on Monday, June 1, 2026. The work is expected to continue through Tuesday, June 30, 2026, with crews on site Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. City officials noted that the schedule may shift if bad weather or unexpected conditions affect the work.
The project focuses on strengthening the stormwater system in the area. Planned improvements include replacing an existing catch basin, installing a new tidal valve and restoring asphalt and landscaping affected by construction. While the work is limited to a specific location, the improvements are intended to support better stormwater function along Isle of Venice Drive.

During construction hours, drivers should expect the southbound lane of Isle of Venice Drive near 148 Isle of Venice Drive to be closed daily. Traffic control personnel will be stationed as needed to guide vehicles through the area and help keep traffic moving safely.
Access to driveways will generally remain open. However, there may be short periods when driveway access is affected if crews are working directly across from a driveway. In those cases, crews will attempt to coordinate with nearby residents before asphalt operations begin.
Residents, visitors and drivers are being asked to follow posted signs, use extra care and slow down when traveling through the work zone. The city also issued a message to nearby neighbors as the project gets underway: “We apologize in advance for any inconvenience and thank our neighbors for their patience during construction.”
