BCPS continues Universal Free Lunch Program for the 2024-2025 school year, expanded programs added

Broward County, Florida – With major increases in its lunch programs for the 2024–2025 academic year, Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) is set to carry on its goal of making sure no child goes hungry during school hours. The Food and Nutrition Services Department has announced the continuation of its Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) and the second year of its Universal Free Lunch Program Pilot.

The CEP would let children in 180 qualified Broward County schools to get free breakfast and lunch. By reducing the obstacles of hunger, this project guarantees that every student has access to healthy food, so improving the learning environment.

Additionally, currently running its second year, the Universal Free Lunch Program Pilot will cover 47 Non-Community Eligibility Provision (Non-CEP) schools. The Universal Free Breakfast project will also keep offering free morning breakfasts to students at these 47 establishments.
