Broward County Commissioner Geller appointed to FAC finance tax and administration policy committee

Broward County, Florida – Broward County Commissioner Steve Geller has been chosen to be on the Florida Association of Counties’ (FAC) Finance, Tax & Administration Policy Committee. This is an important committee that makes suggestions to lawmakers about important topics that affect county governments. The appointment was made by FAC President Michelle Lincoln of Monroe County.
The committee is one of numerous policy groups in FAC that work throughout the year to draft and push for policies that assist local self-governance. Their suggestions go directly into FAC’s Legislative Action Plan, which is the plan for how the group will push for its goals during the legislative session.
Geller said he is honored to take on the post and that counties need to be financially responsible and economically successful to stay strong.
“Addressing issues like taxation, economic development, and fiscal responsibility is vital to ensuring Broward County, and all Florida counties, remain strong and sustainable,” he said in a release. “I look forward to collaborating with fellow leaders to develop policies that benefit our communities.”
The Finance, Tax, and Administration Committee looks at a lot of different things, such as tax systems, sources of municipal revenue, state-shared spending, and ways to boost the economy. The committee also deals with problems with governance and administration, working with constitutional offices, public records laws, election processes, ethics standards, and keeping an eye on the Florida Retirement System.

FAC President Lincoln emphasized the importance of these policy committees, describing them as the foundation for effective advocacy.
“Our policy committees are instrumental in shaping the legislative agenda, and I carefully selected each member for their expertise and commitment to advancing Florida’s counties,” she said.
Geller will also be on the FAC Community and Urban Affairs Policy Committee, where he has been a leader as both Chair and Co-Chair in the past. He has worked as a Florida State Senator and Senate Minority Leader, which FAC leaders claim will help him deal with complicated policy talks.
Geller will serve on the Finance, Tax, and Administration Committee for one year. During that time, he will work with other county officials and the FAC’s executive committee to come up with ideas for the 2026 Legislative Session. This will make sure that the views of the county are heard in Tallahassee.
