Broward County offices close for Labor Day while parks, transit and airports keep operating
Tamarac, Florida – Labor Day will bring a quieter Monday to many Broward County government offices, but not every county service will stop for the holiday.
County offices will be closed Monday, September 7, while parks, airports, transit operations and several emergency services will continue under modified schedules. Broward County says many government services will also remain accessible online through Broward.org.
The county’s 311 Call Center will be closed for the holiday. The Homeless Helpline will also close during regular hours, although after-hours assistance will be available from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. at 954-563-4357.
All Broward County Library branches will close Monday. Digital library services, however, will remain available around the clock, allowing users to search the catalog, place holds, renew items and access downloadable books, music, movies and magazines.
Most regional and neighborhood parks, nature centers and natural areas will remain open. Exceptions include Deerfield Island Park, Markham Target Range, the Marine Environmental Education Center and administrative offices. The After-School Program will not operate at neighborhood parks. A $3 holiday vehicle entrance fee will apply at regional parks for vehicles carrying eight or fewer people, along with holiday rates for shelters and rental halls.

Broward County Transit will operate on a Sunday holiday schedule. Regular weekday service resumes Tuesday, September 8. No Express or Breeze Bus service will operate Monday. Transit customer service will remain available 24 hours a day at 954-357-8400.
Travel operations will largely continue normally. Administrative offices at Port Everglades and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport will close, but marine services, airport terminals and other operational facilities will remain active. North Perry Airport will also operate normally despite its administrative office being closed.
Broward County Animal Care will close Monday. Emergency cases involving animal attacks, bites, injured animals or situations requiring police assistance should be reported through 911.
Regular garbage, recycling and bulk collection will continue in the Broward Municipal Services District. Residents elsewhere in the county should check with their city or waste hauler.
The Broward County Landfill at 7101 S.W. 205 Ave. will be closed Monday and reopen Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Several critical health and emergency programs, including Medical Examiner family services, addiction recovery admissions and crisis services through the Nancy J. Cotterman Center, will continue operating during the holiday.
