Tamarac Building Department to close temporarily as ProjectDox undergoes major system upgrade

Tamarac, Florida – For several days in September, Tamarac’s Building Department will go quiet on the public-facing side while one of its key digital systems gets a major update.

The temporary disruption will affect more than just the front counter. Residents, homeowners, contractors, inspectors and anyone else who relies on the city’s Electronic Plan Review system will need to plan around a short shutdown beginning Thursday, Sept. 10.

The City of Tamarac announced that the Building Department will close to the public while ProjectDox, the platform used for electronic plan review, undergoes an upgrade. During that period, the Electronic Plan Review, or EPR, system will also be unavailable.

The interruption is expected to last about three days during the broader Sept. 10 through Sept. 14 upgrade window. Normal Building Department operations and public access are scheduled to resume Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2026.

One deadline is especially important for people already working inside ProjectDox.

The city is asking all users to completely log out of the system no later than noon EDT on Thursday, Sept. 10. That instruction applies to every user group, including residents, property owners, contractors, inspectors and others with access to the platform.

Logging out before the shutdown is intended to help reduce the risk of potential data loss while the upgrade is underway.

For people with active building projects, the timing means electronic plan-review work may need to be completed or paused before the system goes offline. Users should also expect that they will not be able to access ProjectDox during the service interruption.

Once the work is finished, Tamarac expects the upgraded system and Building Department services to return to their regular schedule on Sept. 15.

Anyone who has questions about the shutdown or encounters problems after ProjectDox comes back online can contact the Tamarac Building Department at (954) 597-3420.

The city thanked users for their patience and cooperation during the interruption, describing the work as an important upgrade aimed at improving Tamarac’s electronic plan review services.
