Deerfield Beach, Florida – A tragic incident unfolded in Deerfield Beach when a young man’s life was cut short in a shooting incident that ended in a vehicle crash. The incident, which took place in January, has since led to the arrest of two individuals, a 16-year-old juvenile and 19-year-old Omari Garcia, in connection to the murder.
On the evening of January 12, at around 7 p.m., deputies from the BSO Deerfield Beach District were dispatched to the scene of a single-vehicle crash at the Heritage Circle Condominiums. Upon arrival, they discovered an unresponsive adult male, later identified as 19-year-old Bryan Fonseca, who had crashed into a tree. It was determined that the cause of the crash was a gunshot wound Fonseca sustained while driving a black 2018 Mercedes Benz AMG C43.

Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue quickly responded to the scene, transporting Fonseca to Broward Health North for medical treatment. Unfortunately, despite the efforts of medical personnel, Fonseca was pronounced deceased on February 2. The case, initially handled by the Violent Crimes Unit, was turned over to the Homicide Unit due to the nature of the incident.
The investigation that followed led detectives to the two suspects involved in this harrowing crime. The juvenile was apprehended by the Coral Springs Police Department on an unrelated charge on February 29.
Shortly after, arrest warrants for the murder of Fonseca were issued for both the juvenile and Garcia. The juvenile faced an additional charge of felony murder in the third degree while in custody. Garcia was arrested on March 6 by BSO V.I.P.E.R. detectives in Miami, also on a charge of felony murder in the third degree. The investigation is ongoing.
