Miami, Florida – Miami-Dade County will hold a groundbreaking ceremony for the Dadeland South Intermodal Station. Scheduled for March 26, 2024, at 10:30 a.m., this event marks the commencement of the Dadeland South Metrorail Station project aimed at providing enhanced connectivity, reliability, and safety for its transit riders.

Daniella Levine Cava, the Mayor of Miami-Dade County, along with the Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTPW) and various elected officials and project stakeholders, will be present to celebrate this moment. The groundbreaking ceremony will take place at the Dadeland South Metrorail Station’s surface park-and-ride lot, just north of the station, located at 9090 South Dixie Highway, Miami, FL 33156.

Upon completion, the Dadeland South Intermodal Station promises to bring about a seamless transition for passengers moving between the existing Metrorail system and the county’s first-ever Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system, part of the Strategic Miami Area Rapid Transit (SMART) Program. Located at the southernmost tip of the Metrorail system and serving as the northern terminal station for the South Dade TransitWay, this station is strategically positioned to significantly enhance the public transportation system in Miami-Dade.

Additionally, DTPW is aiming for the project to receive LEED Silver Certification for Transit Stations.

The list of attendees expected at the groundbreaking ceremony includes Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, Miami-Dade Commissioner Raquel Regalado of District 7, and Eulois Cleckley, the Director and CEO of DTPW, among others.
