Pet owners in Broward County can access free vaccinations and low-cost licensing at upcoming May 23 event

Pompano Beach, Florida – As Broward County Animal Care prepares to hold a free Pet Wellness Clinic in Pompano Beach on Friday, May 23, pet owners in Broward County will have a chance to give their furry friends a health boost. Open to all countywide residents, the event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Animal Care satellite location, 3100 NW 19th Terrace.

This special clinic is designed to make important pet health services easy to access and affordable—actually, entirely free for rabies vaccinations and microchipping. With the procedure made as easy as possible, pet owners can also register their pets right on the spot. A step that guarantees a place for services but not a certain appointment time, anyone desiring to attend can pre-register online. All procedures on the day will be managed on a first-come, first-served basis.

“This clinic is part of our ongoing commitment to making pet health services accessible and affordable to all Broward County residents,” said Doug Brightwell, Director of Broward County Animal Care. “We’re here to serve our community and help ensure pets stay safe, healthy, and protected.”

Apart from the free rabies vaccinations and microchips, the facility provides on-the-spot pet licensing. Owners of microchipped pets can participate in the Tags for Life program, which offers pet licenses for $25; those without microchips pay $55. Microchipping, according to the organization, is a fundamental step in maintaining pet safety and supporting the reunion of missing animals with their families. Payments for pet licensing have to be done by credit card; cash or checks will not be accepted at this event, thereby helping to simplify the procedure.

The clinic has a few important regulations to maintain safe and seamless operation. Cats have to come in safe carriers; dogs have to be leashed. Aiming to make ethical pet ownership easier and more inexpensive for all, the event is exclusively for Broward County residents.

Broward County Animal Care serves as the county’s leading agency for pet adoption and animal welfare services. Apart from wellness clinics, the agency conducts outreach activities, spay/neuter initiatives, and helps encourage good pet care all around the area.
