Broward County Animal Care introduces hassle-free lifetime pet tags

Share

Broward County, Florida – A new program offered by Broward County Animal Care aims to simplify the pet registration procedure and lessen the annual hassle for owners. Launched by the official pet adoption and animal welfare organization for the county, the ” Tags for Life” initiative provides a lifetime registration tag for pets, therefore removing the need for annual tag renewal.

All pets must be registered with tags proving ownership and vaccinated against rabies according to the current county law. But the conventional approach demanded that pet owners get a new tag annually, something that many many found cumbersome and repetitive. The new Tags for Life program streamlines this by providing a permanent tag that lasts the entire life of the pet, which owners simply have to pay an annual renewal charge to keep current.

“Tags for Life is a big win for Broward County pet owners. It gives pet parents peace of mind, knowing their pets have a reliable form of identification for their entire lives,” said Doug Brightwell, Animal Care Director. “Previously, owners had to go through the inconvenience of getting a new tag every year. Now, they can renew their lifetime tag annually, making the process easier and more convenient for everyone.”

Lifetime tags should improve resident convenience by saving time and effort that would otherwise be used on annual renewals. Moreover, it simplifies the procedures for the administrative personnel of the county so they may concentrate more on other aspects of public service and animal care.

All dogs and cats must still keep a current rabies vaccine in line with municipal rules, and registration has to be renewed yearly. The physical tag, though, won’t need to be changed. The program lists varying registration rates depending on the sterilization status of pets; sterilized dogs and cats gain from reduced rates than their unsterilized counterparts. For sterilized dogs, the annual costs are set at $25; for unsterilized dogs, at $55; for sterilized cats, at $15; for unsterilized cats, at $30.

Those who want to use this new program can register their animals and get their Tags for Life by visiting PetTags.Broward.org. The website also offers more details regarding the program and other offerings of Broward County Animal Care.
