Tamarac Turkey Trot returns for 46th year with Thanksgiving morning 5K through Woodmont
Tamarac, Florida – Thanksgiving morning in Tamarac will begin with running shoes, race bibs and a 3.1-mile trip through Woodmont before many families sit down for their holiday meal.
The city’s long-running tradition returns Thursday, Nov. 26, when the 46th Annual Tamarac Turkey Trot 5K starts at 7:30 a.m. outside Tamarac City Hall, 7525 NW 88th Ave. The USATF-certified course is described as flat and fast, taking runners through several turns before finishing back at City Hall.
Early registration is $30 through Oct. 30. The price rises to $35 from Oct. 31 through Nov. 17 and $40 from Nov. 18 through Nov. 25, unless the race sells out sooner. According to the registration page, 2,407 spots remained available at the listed price.
There will be no race-day registration. Online registration closes at noon Nov. 25 or once the event reaches capacity. Participants can register through RunSignup.

A $60 combination option is also available for participants who want to enter both the Tamarac Turkey Trot and the Fort Lauderdale Jingle Bell Jog. Details are available through the event page.
Packet pickup will be held Nov. 23, 24 and 25 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Tamarac City Hall. Race-day packet pickup begins at 6:30 a.m.
Commemorative T-shirts are guaranteed to the first 2,000 registered participants, while all finishers wearing a race bib will receive a medal. Water stations will be positioned near the first- and second-mile marks, and food and refreshments will be available after the race.
Awards will recognize the first three overall finishers based on gun time, along with first-, second- and third-place winners across multiple male and female age divisions. Age-group awards will be determined by net time.
The course starts near 77th Street on Pine Island Road, travels through the Woodmont area and returns south toward the finish at City Hall.
The event also supports the Parks and Recreation Foundation of Tamarac. Optional donations made during registration will help fund youth program grants, scholarships, park equipment and recreation events.
