Two job fairs open the door to work on Pompano Beach’s $2 billion downtown
Pompano Beach, Florida – Pompano Beach’s new downtown will begin with more than concrete, steel and government offices. City leaders say the first major construction project will also open a door for local workers, subcontractors and businesses seeking a share of a development expected to reshape the area’s economy.
That opportunity starts this month, when two community job fairs will introduce residents and contractors to the team building the new City Hall and public parking garage.
The City of Pompano Beach and the Pompano Beach Community Redevelopment Agency, working with master developer RocaPoint Partners, have selected Suffolk to construct the civic complex. The project will serve as the anchor of a planned $2 billion mixed-use downtown development spanning four million square feet.

Plans for the wider district include residential, retail, office, hotel and civic space. Once developed, the area is projected to generate more than $40 million in annual local tax revenue, support 3,080 recurring jobs each year and create 5,752 construction jobs.
Suffolk was chosen through a competitive evaluation process that considered pricing, construction experience and its commitment to involving local subcontractors, vendors and workers. The company has operated for more than 40 years and maintains an established presence in South Florida.
Vice President of Operations Kyle Goebel will lead Suffolk’s South Florida project team. In addition to building new administrative offices, public service areas and the parking garage, the company plans to work with local businesses throughout construction.
The first job fair will take place Wednesday, August 19, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the E. Pat Larkins Community Center, 520 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. A second session will be held Thursday, August 20, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Emma Lou Olson Center, 1801 NE Sixth Street.
Both sessions will provide the same information. Attendees can meet the project team and learn about upcoming bid packages, Suffolk’s procurement process, trade prequalification and workforce opportunities.

Businesses, suppliers, trade contractors and construction professionals are encouraged to bring resumes, licenses, certifications, service descriptions and capability statements. Suffolk also plans a later networking event connecting subcontractors with local construction crews and helping firms understand insurance and qualification requirements.
