Most Broward County government offices to close November 11 for Veterans Day holiday
Broward County, Florida – On Veterans Day, Tuesday, November 11, most county government offices in Broward County will be closed. Broward.org will still be able to help with many important services and online options, even though in-person activities will be suspended for the holiday.
People should remember that the 311 Call Center and the Homeless Helpline will not be open during the holiday. However, the Homeless Helpline will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 954-563-4357 for limited after-hours help.
The NSU-Alvin Sherman Library is the only one that will be open. All other branches of the Broward County Library system will be closed. Residents can still use digital resources like online catalogs, e-books, audiobooks, and streaming media 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
All parks in the county will stay open, including regional and community parks, nature centers, and natural areas. The only exceptions are Deerfield Island Park and the Target Range at Markham Park. The After-School Program will not be held, and the administrative offices will be closed. Regional parks will charge regular holiday prices, which include a $3-per-vehicle entry fee and any rental fees that apply.

Broward County Transit will run on a regular weekday schedule, and from 6 a.m. on, customer service representatives will be available at 954-357-8400 (TTY 954-357-8302) to help commuters plan their trips. There will also be staff at the Main Terminal in Fort Lauderdale and the Lauderhill Transit Center. There will be no Express or Breeze bus service, and the Northeast Transit Center in Pompano Beach will be closed.
The administrative offices at Port Everglades will be closed, but the port will still be open 24 hours a day to accommodate tenants and marine services. Also, the administrative offices at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and North Perry Airport will be closed, although both airports will still be open for business. Animal Care in Broward County will be closed, but they will still respond to animal bites, injuries, and other critical situations that need police help. You can call 954-359-1313 on Wednesday morning to ask about non-emergency services or adoption.
The Office of the Medical Examiner and Trauma Services will close its offices, but emergency and family services remain available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The Broward Addiction Recovery Center will keep doing important medical detox and triage work, but its administrative and outpatient offices will be closed.
The Nancy J. Cotterman Center will also be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week for emergency referrals and crisis intakes at 954-357-5778.
In the Broward Municipal Services District, garbage, recycling, and bulk collections will go on as usual. The county landfill will be closed for the day, but it will open again on Wednesday, November 12, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
During the Veterans Day closure, residents are advised to use Broward.org for information and services online.
