Broward County Public Schools back-to-school events on August 7 bring key services directly to families across Broward

Broward County, Florida – Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) is sponsoring a series of Back to School READY events to make sure that students and families are ready for the 2025/26 school year. The events will happen on Thursday, August 7, from 4 to 7 p.m. at three easy-to-reach places throughout the district. The goal is to bring together important resources and assistance in one place.

Families can go to the events at Atlantic Technical College in Coconut Creek, the Arthur Ashe, Jr. Campus in Fort Lauderdale, and Sheridan Technical College in Hollywood. Each campus has been set up to welcome families and offer a wide range of services that are customized to the needs of both new and returning students.

BCPS has set up these events as one-stop shops for all the important things you need to do to get ready for school. Parents and guardians can get help with registration, transportation, and food applications, as well as support with the Focus parent portal. Also, people from important departments will be there to help families understand what is expected of them in school, how to get tutoring, and what the FAST assessment results mean.

There will also be health services on site, such as school vaccines. However, a parent or guardian must be there for any child getting vaccinations. Families who need help from Exceptional Student Education, the Homeless Education Assistance Resource Team, school counselors, or other student services will get special attention.

BCPS knows that moving to a new school district can be stressful, therefore they have made individualized support a priority for families that are new to the district. Staff will be there to help students with questions, clarify the rules, and make sure that everyone starts the year off on the right foot.

Superintendent Dr. Howard Hepburn expressed the district’s commitment to making sure families are set up for success from the very beginning.

“We are excited for the new school year and committed to championing the success of our students and families before they walk onto school campuses on day one,” Hepburn said.
