Broward Sheriff and Tamarac Fire Rescue open their trucks to kids during three-hour safety expo on September 19
Tamarac, Florida – For one Saturday afternoon in Tamarac, the vehicles normally seen racing toward emergencies or working on city streets will be parked, open and ready for a much closer look.
Children will be able to climb inside trucks, explore first responder vehicles and see public safety equipment up close when the Broward Sheriff’s Office Tamarac District and Tamarac Fire Rescue join forces for a free Public Safety Expo and Touch-A-Truck event on Saturday, September 19.
The community event will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Community Christian Church, located at 10001 W. Commercial Blvd. in Tamarac.
The three-hour program is designed to give children an interactive look at some of the vehicles used by emergency crews and other local services. Instead of simply watching a fire truck or other large vehicle pass by, young visitors will have an opportunity to touch the equipment and sit inside various trucks.
Fire trucks and other emergency vehicles will be among the attractions. Public Services trucks and additional vehicles are also expected to be part of the event.
The Broward Sheriff’s Office Tamarac District and Tamarac Fire Rescue are partnering for the expo, bringing public safety personnel and equipment together at one location. For families, the event offers a chance to turn the large trucks that often attract children’s attention into a hands-on experience.

Admission is free, making the event an accessible Saturday activity for families interested in learning more about the vehicles and people involved in public safety and community services.
