Tamarac, Florida – The Broward Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit has made a significant breakthrough in a two-month-old homicide case in Tamarac. Authorities confirmed earlier this week that a 17-year-old male has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of 21-year-old Mateo Delgado.

The tragic incident took place on November 22 near the 7000 block of Northwest 79th Avenue at the gated Bonaire at Woodmont community in Tamarac. Upon arrival at the scene, authorities found Delgado shot inside a vehicle. The investigation showed that the victim tried to drive away following the shooting but crashed into a nearby pole shortly after. Unfortunately, the first responders pronounced Delgado dead at the scene.

Detectives from the Broward Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit, after an extensive investigation, were able to identify the teenage suspect. A search warrant was executed at his home in Margate, leading to his arrest. Although the suspect’s identity has not been disclosed due to his age, he has been booked into the Juvenile Assessment Center in Broward County and is facing a charge of felony murder.
