Tamarac, Florida – The City of Tamarac is taking significant steps to support its residents facing financial difficulties through the Residential Assistance Program, funded by the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). This initiative is designed to help with various housing-related expenses, ensuring that residents can overcome the financial hurdles that threaten their housing stability.

Enhanced Support for Housing Stability

During the Regular City Commission Meeting on Wednesday, February 14, a pivotal decision was made to expand the scope of the Residential Assistance Program. The City Commission passed a resolution to amend the Spending Plan for the ARPA funds allocated to the Community Development Department’s Housing Division. This amendment is set to broaden the program to cover single-family weatherization including roofs and windows, as well as extend aid for rental gap assistance, mortgage assistance, and HOA/condo fees/assessment assistance.

The application process is designed to be straightforward and equitable, operating on a first-come, first-served basis. To ensure direct and efficient assistance, payments will be made directly to landlords or mortgage companies on behalf of the applicants. It’s important for applicants to secure a W-9 form from their landlord or mortgage company to facilitate these payments. The City of Tamarac announced that this program will continue to accept applications until the allocated funds are fully utilized.

This expanded assistance program is a testament to Tamarac’s commitment to its residents, offering a lifeline to those struggling with mortgage, rent, and other housing-related financial challenges. The City of Tamarac encourages all eligible residents to apply and take advantage of this support.
