Hialeah, Florida – Miami-Dade County is set to unveil significant improvements to Amelia Earhart Park, a historic site that has been a cornerstone of community recreation since its founding in 1980. The announcement event is scheduled for Thursday, May 30, at 10 a.m., where Miami-Dade County District 13 Commissioner Senator Rene Garcia and Miami-Dade Parks Assistant Director Joe Cornely will reveal the plans for the park’s future developments.

A New Era for a Historic Park

The unveiling will take place at Amelia Earhart Park’s Farm Village, located at 401 E 65th St, Hialeah, FL 33013. The proposed enhancements are designed to ensure that the park continues to serve as a premier destination for recreation and leisure for Miami-Dade residents, enriching the community with new and improved facilities.

Key improvements include the construction of a new recreation center complete with a pool and a splash pad, catering to families and fitness enthusiasts. This state-of-the-art facility is expected to be a major attraction within the park, promoting health and wellness throughout the community.

In addition to the recreation center, the park will see the introduction of new sports facilities aimed at catering to a diverse range of interests. These include new pickleball courts, a bike pump track, a skate park, and significant renovations to the existing farm village. The updated farm village will not only provide conservation education but also add more recreational opportunities for visitors, blending learning with leisure.

Celebrating Amelia Earhart’s Legacy

Named after the pioneering aviator Amelia Earhart, the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean, the park spans 515 acres and offers a variety of activities. Facilities include a four-mini-field soccer complex, a petting zoo, a disc golf course, extensive bike trails, sand volleyball courts, an island playground, and a dog park. The park also features multiple lakes that support water sports, making it a comprehensive hub for outdoor activities.

The planned projects reflect Miami-Dade County Parks’ dedication to sustainable development and the creation of vibrant community spaces that offer something for everyone. These improvements are part of a broader initiative to enhance recreational opportunities across the county and ensure the continued enjoyment of these spaces by future generations.

Community members and media are invited to attend the unveiling, where renderings of the planned renovations will be shared. This event marks a significant step forward in the evolution of Amelia Earhart Park as a center for community life and leisure in Miami-Dade County.
