Miami Gardens, Florida – A teenage boy lost his life after being shot in the head over the weekend. This tragic event occurred in a Miami-Dade home while a group of children, including the victim, were playing video games.
The Miami Gardens Police Department received a call around 7:40 p.m. regarding the incident that took place at a residence located at the intersection of Northwest 207th Street and 37th Avenue. According to the initial reports, several children were in a bedroom playing video games when a firearm was discharged, and a 13-year-old boy suffered a serious gunshot wound.
“Officers responded at approximately [7:40 p.m.] to find a juvenile male suffering from a gunshot wound to the back of the head,” revealed MGPD Sgt. Emmanuel Jeanty. He further elaborated, “As of right now, it seems that there were kids playing with a firearm. The investigation is still in its early stages.”
The young victim was in dire need of medical attention. In an attempt to save his life, he was airlifted to Joe DiMaggio Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition. The police also noted that an adult was present in the home when this unfortunate incident occurred.
Despite the best efforts of medical professionals, the situation took a turn for the worse, and the boy succumbed to his injuries.
