Omni Fort Lauderdale Hotel to celebrate grand opening with ribbon cutting on Dec. 18

Broward County, Florida – Media representatives are invited to attend the official opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Omni Fort Lauderdale Hotel, marking the debut of a major new hospitality destination in Broward County. The event will formally introduce the hotel as part of the growing Broward County Convention Center Campus and highlight its role in supporting tourism and economic activity in the region.
The ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, December 18, 2025, and will begin at 2 p.m. It will take place at the Omni Fort Lauderdale Hotel, located at 1850 SE 17th Street in Fort Lauderdale. The event is designed to recognize the completion of the project and its importance to the county’s long-term vision for meetings, conventions, and visitor services.
Several local and industry leaders are expected to participate in the program. Gayla Guyse, General Manager of the Omni Fort Lauderdale Hotel, will serve as emcee and help guide the event. Broward County Mayor Mark D. Bogen is slated to speak, offering remarks on the hotel’s significance to the county and its hospitality sector. Broward County Administrator Monica Cepero will also address attendees, focusing on the project’s role within the broader Convention Center Campus.
Kurt Alexander, President of Omni Hotels & Resorts, is scheduled to speak on behalf of the company, reflecting on the opening of the Fort Lauderdale property and its place within the Omni brand. The program will also include a ceremonial ringing of the bell by the United States Coast Guard, adding a formal and symbolic element to the occasion.
The opening of the Omni Fort Lauderdale Hotel represents a milestone for Broward County’s tourism and convention infrastructure. County officials and hotel leadership view the project as a key addition that strengthens the area’s ability to attract visitors, host large-scale events, and support ongoing economic development tied to the Convention Center Campus.
