Overnight construction to impact traffic flow on key Broward County corridor

Broward County, Florida – Ongoing bridge repair on North Pine Island Road is entering a critical new phase that may cause temporary lane closures in the busy corridor. With work scheduled for completion by August 11, 2025, the Public Works’ Highway and Bridge Maintenance Division (HBMD) has been steadily improving the structure between Sunrise Lakes Boulevard and West Oakland Park Boulevard.

Funded by the local gas tax, the initiative has thus mostly concentrated on structural repairs under the bridge deck. Since personnel could operate without closing lanes, this phase was finished with little disturbance of traffic. Temporary lane closures will be required now as building moves to waterproofing and resurfacing.

Overnight lane closures scheduled

The resurfacing work will be done overnight on March 10 and March 11, 2025, from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM each night, to keep traffic flowing as smoothly as possible. While some lanes will be closed, at least one lane in each direction will remain open at all times. Sidewalks and driveways in the area will also stay accessible.

Drivers should be ready for delays and advised to, if possible, arrange alternative routes. The city advises motorists to use caution when traveling through the construction zone and to follow posted detour signs.
