Tamarac celebrates Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy with a vibrant family-friendly festival

Tamarac, Florida – Set to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Tamarac is planning a vibrant holiday festival designed for family fun and ties to the community. Set for Saturday, January 18, the event starts at 10 a.m. in Tamarac Park, at 7501 N. University Drive.

The City of Tamarac has planned a free event for all ages to fit families wishing to honor the significant life of Dr. King, in what promises to be a day of entertainment and community spirit. There will be a range of events for attendees to pick from so that everyone—from the youngest to the oldest—finds something fun to do.

Local dance groups including Joy Deco, Ambitious Legacy Dance Ensemble, and the Vision Dance Company will provide live presentations comprising modern and lyrical dance routines. Through expressive movement and forceful choreography, these presentations are meant to convey the core of Dr. King’s vision.

The Deep Fried Funk Band, well-known for its adaptable repertoire of songs, will provide live events expected to attract big audiences, adding to the vibrant scene. One of the best bands in South Florida, their presence emphasizes the city’s commitment to provide outstanding entertainment for this important occasion.

Youngsters will be delighted to discover a kid’s zone replete with bouncy houses, which will surely offer countless entertainment value. A vendor hall will also highlight nearby companies and community resources, giving participants an opportunity to help local businesses and gain insight into what Tamarac offers.

Foodies will savor a range of gastronomic pleasures as food trucks line up to present a selection of delectable cuisine. From comfort dishes to local delicacies, the choices will suit different palates and tastes.

As a reminder, Martin Luther King Jr. Day will lead to the City of Tamarac offices to close Monday, January 20. This lets city staff members participate in the celebrations and consider the ongoing influence of the civil rights activist.
