Fort Lauderdale, Florida – Beginning January 6, 2025, residents of Rock Island, Lake Aire Palm View, and Lauderdale Manors could expect some major changes along NW 19th Street. Working with Southern Underground Industries, the City of Fort Lauderdale has announced the start of a vital drainage enhancement project covering NW 28th Avenue to NW 14th Avenue.
The project focuses on fixing a critical 30-inch stormwater pipe that has required attention to avoid future water management problems. In addition, there will be asphalt rehabilitation work where necessary to guarantee better and more consistent road conditions for local traffic.
Work is slated to start close to the east end at NW 14th Avenue and work will progressively head west towards NW 28th Avenue. Aimed for completion by March 1, 2025, the construction teams will work Monday through Friday between the hours of 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. But this chronology is only approximative and might vary depending on the weather or other unanticipated circumstances.
The city is ready for the anticipated disturbance to daily traffic. Anticipated lane restrictions along NW 19th Street will likely remain in place overnight in order to guarantee the security of the building sites. Still, at least one lane in every direction will remain open to help continuous traffic movement. In order to keep access to all drives all through the project, measures have also been implemented; drivers are advised to follow the written signs and navigate the area carefully.
