Pompano Beach, Florida – A 10-year-old boy was injured in a drive-by shooting, prompting an investigation by the Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO) Violent Crimes Unit. The authorities are now appealing to the public for any information that might help apprehend those responsible.
Incident Details
The incident occurred on the evening of Thursday, March 21, around 6:35 p.m., near the 300 block of Northwest 18th Avenue in Pompano Beach. Surveillance footage captured the moments leading up to the shooting, showing the young victim engaged in a seemingly innocent activity, dribbling a basketball while crossing the street. At this moment, another individual, dressed in a green hoodie and long black pants, is seen riding a scooter nearby. Shortly after, a gray sedan speeds by, and shots are fired from the vehicle.
The video further shows the scooter rider hitting the ground in an attempt to evade the gunfire, while the child drops the basketball and runs for safety. The gray sedan involved in the incident was last seen turning north as it fled the scene.

Emergency Response and Investigation
Responding to the emergency, BSO deputies along with Pompano Beach Fire Rescue arrived at the scene. The child was transported by paramedics to a nearby hospital, where he was treated for injuries determined to be non-life-threatening. Investigators confirmed that no other individuals were harmed during the incident.
