Tamarac launches initiative to boost neighborhood appearance and property values, homeowners can get up to $3,000

Tamarac, Florida – The City of Tamarac’s Curbside Appeal Program gives residents a new reason to beautify their homes’ exteriors by offering financial help for a wide range of exterior improvements.

Through the program, residents who qualify can get full reimbursement, up to $3,000, for authorized renovations that make their houses appear better and increase their value. The initiative is meant to get homeowners to make repairs and improvements that will make their homes look better from the street. These can be as simple as painting the house or fixing the driveway or as complex as improving the landscaping.

City rules say that projects that meet the requirements can include painting the outside, fixing the sidewalk and driveway, repairing the soffit and fascia, cleaning the gutters, fixing the seawall, cleaning up the yard, replacing the garage door, doing minor roof work, fixing windows, improving the irrigation system, and taking care of the landscaping. The goal is not just to make the area look better, but also to keep the homes’ architectural integrity in line with how they were originally designed and built.

To be eligible, the property must be the owner’s main home and have no open permits, liens, or code violations. However, the city may make exceptions if the proposed work fixes these problems. People who want to apply must meet the program’s income standards, and condominiums are not eligible. There isn’t a lot of money available, therefore it will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis until all available funds are used.

Homeowners must bring all of their paperwork to the application procedure in person to preserve their privacy. Applicants must show proof of ownership, a recent mortgage statement, valid ID, and cost estimates from contractors that are similar to the ones they are applying for. The property owner will get the reimbursement, up to $3,000, directly after the work has been completed and inspected.

City officials say that Code Compliance Officers constantly check communities to find problems that affect how good the curb appeal is. Tamarac wants to help residents make modifications that will not only make their individual property appear better, but also make the community as a whole look and feel better by offering to pay for certain renovations.
