Tamarac residents invited to honor veterans at Veterans Park on November 11 and donate essential items to those in need
Tamarac, Florida – Tamarac will pause on Veterans Day to put service, sacrifice and community support at the center of attention, bringing residents together for a ceremony that will honor both past and present members of the military.
The city’s annual Veterans Day Ceremony is set for Wednesday, November 11, at 10:30 a.m. at Veterans Park, 7825 Southgate Blvd. This year’s program will feature Retired Major Will Rodriguez as the keynote speaker, along with music, military honors and a community donation drive aimed at helping unhoused veterans.
Rodriguez will deliver the special military address during the ceremony as Tamarac recognizes veterans for their service to the country. The event will also feature a performance by “The Miamians” and participation from the Fire Rescue Honor Guard.
Another part of the program will focus on veterans with direct ties to the Tamarac community. Additional Tamarac veterans will be formally presented on the city’s Ceremonial Wall, continuing the local tradition of recognizing residents who have served in the armed forces.
The ceremony is designed not only as a moment of remembrance, but also as an opportunity for residents to help veterans who are currently facing difficult circumstances.
The Tamarac Veterans Affairs Committee will collect donations during the event to support the needs of unhoused veterans. Residents who attend are encouraged to bring non-perishable food, toiletries, socks and hand towels. Those items will be gathered as part of the committee’s effort to provide practical assistance to veterans in need.
Light refreshments will also be available during the gathering.
City officials are encouraging the community to attend and show appreciation for military veterans, emphasizing that recognition of their service should extend beyond a single holiday.
“Their service deserves our gratitude, not just on Veterans Day, but every day,” the city said in announcing the event.
With a keynote address from Rodriguez, military honors, music and the addition of more local names to the Ceremonial Wall, the November 11 ceremony will combine remembrance with direct community involvement. Residents will also have a chance to turn that appreciation into action by contributing supplies for veterans who need additional support.
