Tamarac schedules community meeting on proposed park at former Shaker Village clubhouse site

Tamarac, Florida – The City of Tamarac is inviting residents to come to a community meeting about a potential change in land use on the east side of the city. The meeting is part of an early review process for proposals for the old Shaker Village clubhouse property, which is currently being considered as a possible site for a new community park.

City officials set up the pre-application meeting so that people who live nearby and other interested parties can hear about the idea before it goes through the city’s planning and zoning procedure. The concept would need a slight change to the city’s land use classification and a change in zoning to let the area be used as a public park.

The conference will start at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 17, 2025. It will take place in the Tamarac Community Center, which is at 8601 West Commercial Boulevard. City officials should explain the proposed adjustments and how the amendment helps long-term goals for open space and leisure in the community.

People who live in the area and go to the meeting will be able to learn more about the concept and ask questions about how it will work. The meeting is a vital step in getting feedback from the community, even though no final decisions will be made at this time.
