Trump’s unhinged Sunday night meltdown, deletes post after epic spelling fail while continuing with threats

Florida – Late on Sunday night, Donald Trump deleted a error-filled Truth Social message. A few minutes later, he posted it again with the spelling and somewhat altered. The first late-night statement, which came right after he got back from Thanksgiving in Florida, started with the words “Ther are laws that effect our nation.” The post was displayed for a short time before it was deleted and replaced with a new one. This time, “there” was spelled correctly, and “effect” was replaced with “impact,” which is safer and more neutral.

Late on Sunday night, Donald Trump deleted a error-filled Truth Social message. A few minutes later, he posted it again with the spelling and somewhat altered

Aside from the grammatical fixes, the message carried the same closing command: “DO WHAT HAS TO BE DONE!!!”

The post centered around a statute cited under the U.S. Code, which Trump appeared to believe was a direct quote from retired Navy Commander Kirk Lippold. Lippold used to be in charge of the USS Cole. Now he is a motivational speaker. In 2000, al Qaeda suicide bombers assaulted the ship in Yemen, killing 17 American sailors and injuring 37 others. Later, it was found that intelligence shortcomings were partly to blame for the disaster.

Trump’s most recent statements come after weeks of rising antagonism toward Democratic lawmakers. This is particularly true for six members of Congress with military or intelligence backgrounds who made a video advising service members that they should not follow unlawful orders. Trump called the lawmakers “The Seditious Six” and said publicly that what they did was “SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR, punishable by DEATH!

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth added fuel to the fire by saying he would bring back Senator Mark Kelly, an Arizona Democrat who used to be a Navy captain and astronaut, to face court-martial. Hegseth said that Kelly’s involvement in the video “brings discredit upon the armed forces and will be addressed appropriately.”

Kelly turned down the warnings during an interview on MSNBC’s The Rachel Maddow Show, saying the scenario was ridiculous. He ignored Trump’s threats and said he wasn’t scared even after the former president said he deserved execution. Kelly stated that he will keep doing his job and hold the government accountable. He said that threatening political officials will not make them quiet.

Last week, tensions flared again as Trump made another Truth Social attack, this time against Tim Walz, the governor of Minnesota. He used a slur and said that being politically correct was bad in that message. Trump refused to take down the comment when asked about it later. Instead, he doubled down and said that Walz was mismanaging things and letting money go to Somalia. He asked if Somalia is even a country, saying, “There’s something wrong with Walz.”

The posts have continued to get attention, not just because of their tone, but also because of how quickly they are uploaded, taken down, updated, and reposted, usually with spelling mistakes fixed but the sentiment staying the same.
