Broward recruits behind-the-scenes workers to deliver voting equipment across the county
Broward County, Florida – Weeks before Broward County voters head to the polls, some of the people keeping the election moving will never sit behind a check-in table. They will be behind the wheel, loading trucks and making sure voting equipment reaches the places where it is needed.
Broward County is recruiting temporary drivers and helpers for its election logistics operation, with workers needed to move equipment and supplies across Tamarac and other municipalities as the Nov. 3 general election approaches.
The City of Tamarac has highlighted the hiring push, directing residents to the Broward County Supervisor of Elections office. “Help make every vote count,” the city said while pointing potential applicants toward BrowardVotes.gov.
According to the Supervisor of Elections, truck drivers and helpers assist the Logistics Department with election equipment and supply pickup, including returns on Election Night.
Drivers are listed at $250 for the assignment, while helpers receive $220. Those totals include training pay when the worker ultimately serves on Election Day. Training is not paid when a person does not work the election.
The jobs require dependable workers who can handle election equipment and supplies and report for assigned shifts on time. The broader Election Day worker program requires participants to be registered Broward County voters and complete required training before receiving an assignment.
The logistics hiring comes as Broward prepares for two weeks of early voting. Voting will run from Oct. 19 through Nov. 1, every day from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., ahead of Election Day on Tuesday, Nov. 3. Tamarac’s Supervisor of Elections branch is located inside the Tamarac Branch Library at 8701 W. Commercial Boulevard.
Drivers and helpers are only part of the temporary workforce being assembled. Broward is also seeking inspectors, assistant clerks, voting system technicians, poll deputies, early-voting workers, warehouse staff and call-center operators. Early-voting positions pay between $18 and $22 an hour, while warehouse work is listed at $18 an hour.
The timing is becoming increasingly important. The voter registration deadline for the Nov. 3 election is Oct. 5, while requests to have a vote-by-mail ballot mailed must be received by 5 p.m. Oct. 22.

For drivers and helpers, the assignment is largely behind the scenes, moving the machines, materials and supplies that must be in place before voters arrive.
