Community invited to gather in Tamarac at Veterans’ Park for Memorial Day remembrance and tribute
Tamarac, Florida – Tamarac will pause on Memorial Day to honor the men and women who gave their lives in military service, with the city inviting residents to gather for its annual Memorial Day Ceremony on Monday, May 25, at 10:30 a.m.
The ceremony will take place at Tamarac Veterans’ Park, located at 7825 Southgate Blvd., where the community will come together for a morning of remembrance, music and tribute.
On-site parking will be available at the park.

This year’s program will include patriotic performances by The Miamians, an all-male barbershop chorus, along with a wreath-laying tribute and a presentation of colors led by Tamarac Fire Rescue.
Elected officials and special guests are also expected to offer remarks during the ceremony.
The keynote address will be delivered by Colonel Brett Dorey, Air Force Reserve Advisor to the Commander of United States Southern Command. Colonel Dorey began his military career in 2003 at Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland as a Personnel Officer.

Over the years, he has served in several leadership roles, including Section Commander at both Squadron and Group levels.
Before Personnel and Services merged into the Force Support career field, Colonel Dorey took part in the initial crossflow and served as a Combat Support Flight Commander in a Services Squadron.
His career also includes service as Executive Officer for a Mission Support Group, a Fighter Group and a Fighter Wing. Most recently, he deployed as Joint Task Force Deputy Commander during RESOLUTE SENTINEL 2022, a large-scale United States Southern Command-led exercise in Central America. He now serves in Doral, Florida.
Following the ceremony, attendees will be invited to view the Tamarac Veterans Honor Wall, an artistic display recognizing current and former Tamarac residents who have served in the military. The display includes more than 1,100 names, arranged by branch of service, honoring both living and deceased veterans.
Veterans or next of kin who wish to have a name included on the display are encouraged to complete the Veterans Honor Wall application at Tamarac.gov/280 or call (954) 597-3621.
The City is also asking attendees to support unhoused veterans by bringing non-perishable food, toiletry items, socks and hand towels. Donations may also be dropped off at the Parks and Recreation Administration Building, 6001 Nob Hill Road, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
City of Tamarac offices will be closed Monday, May 25, in observance of Memorial Day. More information is available from the Parks and Recreation Department at (954) 597-3620 or Tamarac.gov/SpecialEvents.
