Broward County to begin construction on new privacy wall along Sistrunk Boulevard July 7, project competition expected this September

Broward County, Florida – A major construction project aimed at improving privacy and safety for residents along Sistrunk Boulevard is set to kick off next week. Broward County’s Highway and Bridge Maintenance Division announced it intends on building a new privacy wall along Sistrunk Boulevard, just east of NW 31st Avenue in the Broward Municipal Services District. The wall will be about 900 feet long and 8 feet high.
The project is set to commence on Monday, July 7, 2025, and will be paid for with money from the gas tax. If the weather or other unexpected events don’t cause delays, construction should be completed by September.
First, crews will put up a temporary privacy fence to keep construction work from bothering residents nearby. This temporary wall will stay up until the old wall, which is falling apart, is taken down and a new, stronger wall is built. The new wall will match the style of the Franklin Park neighborhood, ensuring consistency and enhancing the area’s appearance.
Throughout the project, county officials are making efforts to minimize disruption for motorists and residents. At all times, at least one lane of Sistrunk Boulevard going east will be open. Single-lane closures will only happen during off-peak hours to limit traffic congestion. The westbound lanes will not be affected and remain open as usual. Pedestrians will be sent to the other sidewalk, and residents will still be able to get to their driveways during the construction.
Once the new privacy wall is completed, crews will restore the construction area to leave the site clean and polished. County officials emphasized their commitment to maintaining safety and accessibility while the work progresses.
