County urges residents to donate cash to support families struggling with rising food costs during holiday season

Broward County, Florida – As the holidays get closer, Broward County needs community support more and more. Many families in the area are having trouble paying for their daily meals because food prices are going up and they are still having money problems. To help with this expanding problem, the Broward County Board of County Commissioners is asking people who can to make cash donations that will go straight to restocking food banks across the county.

Commissioner Nan Rich is in charge of the Feeding Broward effort, which is working with a number of community partners to directly address food insecurity. Feeding South Florida, the Children’s Services Council, the Health Foundation of South Florida, the Memorial Healthcare System, and the United Way are all working together on this project. Their goal is to make sure that people who need it most can always have healthy food.

Organizers stress that cash donations are the best way to meet demand. Unlike food drives, cash donations let organizations buy large amounts of necessary supplies, which means that food banks can promptly respond to shortages and serve balanced, healthful meals. Every dollar you give helps make the most of resources and keep food distribution going in the region for a long time.

People who want to give can easily do so online through United Way of Broward County’s Project Lifeline at UnitedWayBroward.org/Project-Lifeline. The initiative sends money directly to local food aid programs, making sure that donations have a real and immediate effect on the community.

The Coordinating Council of Broward has a full list of local food programs and places where people can get help with SNAP benefits for people who need it. Families can find aid with food through the list at ccbroward.org/snap-food-assistance-locations. It makes sure that no one has to go hungry alone.

County leaders are reminding people that even tiny donations can have a major impact, especially around the holidays when many families are already having a hard time. As Commissioner Rich and her partners keep running the Feeding Broward project, the work of donors, volunteers, and organizations is helping families in Broward County get through one of the hardest times of the year.
