Ex-Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz drops a bombshell: “Obama ordered a hit on the American democracy”

Florida – Former Florida Congressman Matt Gaetz stirred fresh controversy on Newsmax by saying that former President Barack Obama hurt the democratic process. Gaetz, a well-known member of the MAGA movement, made the shocking allegation that Obama planned an organized attempt to make Donald Trump’s presidency seem illegitimate before he even took office.

During an interview with host Rob Finnerty, Gaetz was asked about recent claims made by Tulsi Gabbard, the Director of National Intelligence. Gabbard claims that Obama was behind a fake intelligence story made up by James Clapper, the Director of National Intelligence, and John Brennan, the CIA Director, in early 2017. She said the goal was to make people doubt Trump’s ability to be president.

“President Obama essentially ordered a hit on the American democracy. And if they’re going to prosecute Donald Trump for bringing home some boxes, maybe they should prosecute Barack Obama for trying to bring home the presidency with him,” Gaetz told Rob Finnerty, referencing the Mar-a-Lago documents case brought against Trump.

“He assembles the team, and he makes the call. [Former FBI Director James] Comey executes it from the inside. Clapper and Brennan, they facilitate this corrupt relationship with the media, where they breathlessly say that there are all these assessments showing that Trump is an agent of the Russian government,” Gaetz added.

The statements come at a time when there is more interest in additional investigations into the 2016 election. Gaetz says that the Department of Justice has now put together a “strike team” to go at Gabbard’s findings. He expressed confidence that this would lead to charges and further accountability, especially for Clapper, Brennan, and former FBI Director James Comey, who he said do not benefit from presidential protection.

Some people claim that Attorney General Pam Bondi was surprised by Gabbard’s actions, which have put her in a politically tricky spot. Democratic Representative Jason Crow has said that Gabbard’s assertions are meant to take attention away from existing issues with Trump, such as his ties to Jeffrey Epstein and his ongoing legal problems.

Gaetz, on the other hand, said that transparency was the most important thing. He advised Congress to act and put the witnesses on the stand so they could answer questions, even if the DOJ said to be careful.

Obama’s administration strongly denied the charges, calling them “bizarre” and “a weak attempt at distraction.” They stressed that the U.S. intelligence community has known for a long time that Russia tried to sway the 2016 election, but there was no proof that votes were changed or that the Trump campaign was involved in the attempt.

A bipartisan Senate investigation from 2020 backed such conclusions and found no evidence for the idea of a planned internal coup. Still, Trump and his supporters have kept pushing the idea that he was unfairly targeted by political rivals in the government. They argue this justifies major changes to intelligence and law enforcement organizations.

Trump promised to make these institutions less political, but since he took office, others have accused him of doing the reverse. Critics refer to his actions against companies that are connected to his political opponents and his constant calls for people who disagree with him to be prosecuted.

As the political scene prepares for more news, the fallout from Gaetz’s comments and Gabbard’s docs might make the already severe divisions in Washington much worse. It is not clear if these claims will have any legal weight or if they will just be political talk.
