Fort Lauderdale invites residents to shape city policies by joining advisory boards and committees

Fort Lauderdale, Florida – Fort Lauderdale residents who want to have a bigger say in how their community will grow in the future now have a clear chance to do so. The City is encouraging civic-minded individuals to apply for open seats on various advisory boards and committees that help guide decisions across a wide range of important areas.
These boards play an important role by giving the City Commission advice and smart suggestions on anything from improving the community to education, public safety, and sustainability. It’s an opportunity for regular people to have their say on policies and projects that have a direct impact on life in Fort Lauderdale.
City officials are asking people to look at the open positions and apply online at this link. There is probably something that could use your help, whether you are a professional with years of expertise or just someone who wants to give back.
Many of the boards are in need of new members. For example, the Community Appearance Board, which helps enhance and improve neighborhoods, has 22 available slots out of 25. There are eight open positions on the Community Services Board, which helps decide how to spend money on social services and provides advice on what the community needs. If you want to help local schools, you can join the Education Advisory Board, which needs to fill seven of its 20 positions.

The city is also looking for people to join the Sustainability Advisory Board, which helps Fort Lauderdale deal with environmental and climatic issues. There are four open seats on that board. The Cemetery System Board of Trustees, the Nuisance Abatement Board, and the Fire-Rescue Facilities Bond Issue Blue Ribbon Committee are all looking for people.
Being on a board is more than just a civic duty; it’s a means to meet people who care about the same things, make a difference, and learn more about how local government works. Most of these jobs are volunteer-based, but they come with the reward of making Fort Lauderdale a better place to live.
Now is a great time for people in the city to stand forward, share their skills, and help create the city’s next chapter because there are many open seats on numerous committees. Those who are interested should act immediately and fill out their applications online to be evaluated.
