Lace up for tradition as Tamarac hosts its 45th Turkey Trot this Thanksgiving

Tamarac, Florida – The City of Tamarac is inviting residents and visitors to put on their running shoes for the 45th Annual Tamarac Turkey Trot 5K, a Thanksgiving tradition. On Thursday, November 27, 2025, at 7:30 a.m., the event will start and end at Tamarac City Hall, located at 7525 NW 88th Avenue.
The Turkey Trot has been a holiday tradition for more than 40 years. It gives people a fun way to start Thanksgiving Day. Everyone, from runners to walkers to families with kids, is welcome to attend. You can do it to set a personal record or just to enjoy the community spirit before the day’s festivities begin.
People who sign up early can pay the $30 registration fee by 11:59 p.m. EDT on October 30. From October 31 to November 17, the fee goes up to $35. From November 18 to November 26, late registration is $40. The organizers say that there will be no registration on race day, and spots may fill up rapidly because thousands of people are anticipated to join.
Every registered runner will get a T-shirt and a medal for finishing. The first 2,000 people to sign up will get T-shirts for sure. From November 24 to 26, from 4 to 8 p.m., you can pick up your packet at the Tamarac Community Center, which is at 8601 W. Commercial Boulevard. Pick up on race day starts at 6:30 a.m. at City Hall.
The 5K course is flat and fast, and it goes through the beautiful Woodmont neighborhood. It is approved by USATF. The race will start on Pine Island Road, go through local streets, and end back at City Hall. There will be fluid stations at mile markers one and two, and medical experts will be there to make sure everyone is safe.
The top three finishers overall and the top three finishers in each age group, from 9 and under to 75 and older, will get prizes. All results will be based on official chip timing.
After the race, people can have snacks and fun at City Hall. The Parks and Recreation Foundation of Tamarac will receive the money from the event. This will assist pay for youth programming, park upgrades, and local recreation activities.
