Miami, Florida – The Miami-Dade County Community Action and Human Services Department’s (CAHSD) Office of Neighborhood Safety (ONS) has announced an extension for applicants interested in the “Peace & Prosperity Empowerment through Education” Scholarship program. This initiative is specially designed “to support college-bound young adults directly or indirectly affected by gun violence,” aiming to offer financial assistance and encouragement for their educational endeavors.

Originally opened on February 14, 2024, the application window has now been extended to April 1, 2024. This adjustment provides additional time for eligible Miami-Dade County residents, who are graduating from high school by August 1, 2024, and have plans to attend an accredited college or university, to apply.
