Miramar corridor set for new sidewalks bike lanes and resurfaced pavement by 2026

Broward County, Florida – The Broward County Public Works Department is about to start a big project to fix the roads along Flamingo Road in Miramar. Construction is planned to start on August 18. The Highway and Bridge Maintenance Division is in charge of the project, which will focus on improving the safety of pedestrians and cyclists while also fixing up aging roadways.

The work will cover the area from Honey Hill Drive/County Line to Red Road and will include a number of improvements, such as ADA-compliant pedestrian ramps, repairs to sidewalks, better bike lanes, and resurfacing of worn-out pavement areas. Officials argue that the county’s transportation surtax will pay for the project, which shows how important it is for long-term infrastructure investment.

If everything goes according to plan, the work will be done by March 2026. County officials, on the other hand, warn that the timeframe could be pushed back if anything unexpected happens or if the weather causes delays.

To avoid things from getting too messy, construction staff will maintain at least one of the two driving lanes in each direction open the whole time. To help ease traffic, temporary single-lane closures will only happen during off-peak hours. During most of the construction period, people will still be allowed to stroll through the area. Any detours that need to be made will be clearly posted to keep people safe while they walk around work zones.

This project is very important for making sure that everyone can utilize the roads safely and easily. The improvements should help not just drivers, but also the numerous people who walk or ride their bikes to get around every day.
