Broward County announces Juneteenth closures on June 19, essential services to continue

Broward County, Florida – Broward County residents will see a mix of closures and regular services on Friday, June 19, 2026, as county governmental offices close in observance of Juneteenth.

While many in-person offices will pause for the holiday, several essential operations will continue, and many services will remain available online through Broward.org. County officials are reminding residents to check schedules in advance, especially for libraries, parks, transit, airports and public assistance services.

The 311 Call Center will be closed for the day. The Homeless Helpline will also be closed, but after-hours support will still be available from 10 PM to 2 AM at 954-563-4357.

All Broward County Library branches will be closed, except for NSU-Alvin Sherman Library, which will remain open from 7 AM to 10 PM. Digital library services will continue around the clock, allowing customers to search the catalog, place holds, renew materials and stream or download books, music, movies and magazines.

Parks will mostly stay open. Broward County regional and neighborhood parks, nature centers and natural areas will welcome visitors, but Markham Target Range, the Summer Recreation Program in neighborhood parks and administrative offices will be closed. The regional park holiday gate fee of $3 per vehicle with eight or fewer occupants will be in effect, along with holiday shelter and building fees.

Broward County Transit will run on a regular weekday schedule. Customer service representatives will be available 24/7 for bus and paratransit TOPS assistance at 954-357-8400, with TTY service at 954-357-8302. Staff will also be available at the Main Terminal in downtown Fort Lauderdale and Lauderhill Transit Center from 6 AM to 8 PM, and at the Northeast Transit Center in Pompano Beach from 11 AM to 7 PM. Port Everglades administrative offices will be closed, though the building will remain open for tenants during normal business hours. Marine services will continue 24/7 without interruption.

At Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, Aviation Department administrative offices will be closed, but terminals and airport facilities will operate normally. General airport questions will be answered 24 hours a day at 954-359-6100, and additional information is available at FLL.net. North Perry Airport will also operate normally, although its administrative office will be closed. Calls there will be answered 24 hours a day at 954-336-2973.

Animal Care, the Broward County Landfill and several administrative offices will be closed, while emergency, medical, crisis, addiction recovery and trauma-related services will continue under special holiday schedules. Garbage, bulk and recycling collection for Broward Municipal Services District will run as regularly scheduled. Normal landfill operations will resume Saturday, June 20, from 8 AM to 4 PM.
