BCPS addresses safety concerns with walk-through metal detectors at two Broward County high schools starting Monday

Pembroke Pines, Florida – Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) is set to introduce walk-through metal detectors at two of its high schools as a new safety measure. This initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance security across the district, ensuring a safer environment for students and staff.

Metal Detectors to Boost School Safety

Starting Monday, June 24, 2024, at 8:30 a.m., Charles W. Flanagan High School in Pembroke Pines and J.P. Taravella High School in Coral Springs will implement these metal detectors for the first time, coinciding with the beginning of their summer school sessions.

The decision to install metal detectors was made by the Broward County School Board as part of their ongoing commitment to enhance school safety.
