Broward Connects podcast brings local government closer to residents through monthly stories

Broward County, Florida – The new podcast series Broward Connects from Broward County is making local government more accessible to the local residents. The podcast is quickly becoming a go-to source for locals looking for both information and inspiration. It is meant to help people learn more about the county’s services, programs, and the people who work behind the scenes.

New episodes every month that cover different parts of life in Broward, like as public services and cultural events. The podcast has a laid-back yet instructive tone and features interesting talks that explain how the county works and respect the people who make it all possible.

The most current episode, which came out on August 1, focuses on how important the 311 Broward Call Center is. This program answers more than 300,000 calls a year and helps people find their way through more than 65 county services. 311 helps consumers find answers to problems, from pothole reports to storm information. Maroe talks with Call Center Manager John Sam and long-time staff members who tell him stories about their hard work, efficiency, and how they help the community. The episode shows how this resource not only answers queries every day, but also steps up in emergencies to help people in real time.

In July’s episode, the focus was on the entertainment business, with a look at Film Lauderdale. Maroe talked to Film Commissioner Sandy Lighterman and Commissioner Steve Geller on how Broward County is quickly becoming a popular place for making movies and TV shows. They talked about how tax breaks, good locations, and a rising infrastructure are helping the economy and making jobs, which is putting Broward on the map for business.
