Broward County Administrator Monica Cepero takes statewide leadership role overseeing Florida county managers
Tamarac, Florida – A Broward County executive who manages an $8.8 billion budget and a workforce of nearly 7,000 employees is taking on a second leadership role, this time with a statewide reach.
County Administrator Monica Cepero has been appointed president of the Florida Association of County Managers for the 2026-2027 term, placing her at the head of an organization that connects county administrators across all 67 Florida counties. The appointment was made official during FACM’s recent annual meeting in Orlando.
The Florida Association of County Managers focuses on collaboration, professional education and the sharing of best practices among county leaders. Its work gives administrators a place to discuss common challenges, improve government operations and strengthen services provided to residents.

Cepero enters the position with more than 35 years of experience in state and local government management. In Broward County, she serves as chief executive officer under the Board of County Commissioners and oversees more than 65 agencies.
Her responsibilities cover a county of more than 2 million residents, described as the 17th largest county in the nation. The agencies under her leadership include Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, Port Everglades and the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau.
Broward County Mayor Mark D. Bogen said Cepero’s selection reflects the reputation she has built beyond the county.
“On behalf of the County Commission, I congratulate Monica Cepero on her well-deserved election as President of the Florida Association of County Managers,” Bogen said. “This election is a testament to the statewide respect she has earned throughout her career, and I know her executive vision and collaborative spirit will serve the state well during her tenure.”

Cepero said she intends to approach the statewide leadership position with an emphasis on cooperation and service.

Her 2026-2027 term will put Broward County’s administrator at the center of conversations involving local government management throughout Florida, as county leaders exchange ideas and work through challenges affecting communities across the state.
