Fort Lauderdale, Florida – Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) proudly presents the 24th Annual Kids and Staff of Character Awards, taking place on Wednesday, May 15, at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, Amaturo Theater. The event, set to begin at 7 p.m., will recognize 50 students and 20 BCPS staff members who have exemplified outstanding character throughout the school year.

Recognizing Core Values

This prestigious ceremony is not just a celebration but a recognition of the core values that form the foundation of the educational and social environment within BCPS. Honored students and staff members have demonstrated admirable adherence to eight District-adopted core character traits: cooperation, responsibility, citizenship, kindness, respect, honesty, self-control, and tolerance. These traits are promoted actively within the school community through classroom curricula and various school-related activities, aiming to foster a safe and respectful learning atmosphere for all students.

Nominations for the awards came from schools across the District, with candidates selected for consistently embodying these traits in their daily actions and interactions. The BCPS Mental Health Services Department organizes the event annually, underscoring the importance of character development in educational settings.
