City of Fort Lauderdale begins infrastructure upgrades to strengthen wastewater system near Miami Road
Fort Lauderdale, Florida – The City of Fort Lauderdale is moving forward with a concentrated infrastructure project aimed at improving a vital piece of its wastewater system in the Harbordale neighborhood. City officials are working with Lanzo Construction Co. to fix and replace a sanitary sewer force main that serves the neighborhood near Miami Road and SE 10th Avenue.
The project is part of a larger effort to make Fort Lauderdale’s sewer system more reliable, bigger, and better for the environment. After the work on the subterranean pipes is completed, crews will connect the new sewer pipes and perform any other work that needs to be done. Roadways, sidewalks, and landscaped areas affected by construction will be repaired as conditions allow.
Construction is planned for Miami Road between SE 14th Court and SE 15th Street, as well as SE 10th Avenue from SE 15th Street to just south of SE 16th Street. The intersection of SE 10th Avenue and SE 15th Street will also be worked on. The city says that building should start on Friday, December 19, 2025, and last until early January 2026.
The work is part of a bigger plan to repair the sewer system, therefore the final restoration of the site may take longer than the primary construction window. The crews will finish up once all work in the region is done.
During the project, vehicles and residents should be ready for traffic changes that will only last for a short time. Miami Road will be blocked between SE 14th Court and SE 15th Street. SE 10th Avenue will be closed between SE 15th Street and just south of SE 16th Street, which includes the intersection adjacent. Parts of SE 15th Street will still be open to local traffic only.

Drivers will have to take Miami Road, SE 17th Street, and Cordova Road instead. There will be traffic control personnel on site to help and direct vehicles as needed.
City officials are encouraging drivers to be careful, observe the signs, and be patient during construction. People who live nearby and have questions or concerns should call the project hotline at 1-800-214-4095 or email [email protected].
