Fort Lauderdale begins major water main replacement project on SE 25th Avenue September 22

Fort Lauderdale, Florida – The City of Fort Lauderdale has said that a big infrastructure upgrade will begin along SE 25th Avenue in the Harbour Inlet neighborhood. The construction will start on Monday, September 22, 2025, and its main goals are to make the community’s water distribution system stronger and improve fire safety.

The project will put up a new 8-inch water main along the east side of SE 25th Avenue to replace the old 6-inch line. This bigger main will then be linked to the 8-inch line that is already there on the west side. This will make the system stronger and more dependable. A new fire hydrant will also be put in, which will make houses and businesses nearby even safer.

Murphy Pipeline Contractors is in charge of the building, which should take until late 2025. Work will happen on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. During the project, people may have to deal with small problems. There may be short service delays at the end of construction when final connections are completed, but neighbors will be told ahead of time.

Changes to traffic will also be a part of the process. One lane in each direction on SE 25th Avenue may be closed at times. There will be traffic control personnel there to help drivers, and private driveways will still be open. Drivers should pay attention to the signage and be particularly careful when driving through the area.

Once the work is done, the construction zone will be cleaned up so that the neighborhood looks almost the same as it did before. City officials have expressed appreciation for the community’s patience, acknowledging the inconvenience but stressing the long-term benefits of a safer, more efficient water system.

This is one of several projects in Fort Lauderdale that are meant to update old infrastructure and get the city ready for future expansion. For people who live in Harbour Inlet, the work on SE 25th Avenue will bring better fire protection and stronger water service in the future.
