Fort Lauderdale, Tamarac and partner cities unite for safe disposal of toxic household items and old prescriptions

Tamarac, Florida – Those living in Fort Lauderdale and nearby areas have until noon on Friday, May 23, 2025, to sign up for the next Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Drop-off Event. Planned for the next day at Mills Pond Park, 2201 NW 9th Avenue, the event will run from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and is meant to assist residents securely dispose of dangerous household items in an environmentally responsible way.
Residents of Fort Lauderdale as well as those from partnering cities including Coconut Creek, Coral Springs, Lauderdale Lakes, Pompano Beach, and Tamarac are welcome at the HHW event. Residents have to sign up beforehand and show evidence of residency to take part. Acceptable forms of identification include a tax bill, a trim notice, a driver’s license, or a utility bill.
Apart from hazardous waste collection, the event will include on-site shredding services. Participants may bring for shredding up to three bankers boxes full of material. All paper clips, staples, and other metal or plastic bindings have to be removed from the documents before shredding.
